Mission Statement
The mission of the Incident Management Teams Association (IMTA) Incident Qualifications System Committee (IQS) is to address the professional qualifications development of our members in the areas of incident management, emergency management, and public safety in cooperation with our federal, state, local, and tribal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector stakeholders.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Develop the association’s Incident Qualifications System standards documents and materials.
  • Review as necessary the associations Incident Qualifications System programs for needed revisions or updates.
  • Review other ICS stakeholder organization documents and provide comment and recommendations, as appropriate.
  • From the committees members provide members for the association’s Incident Certification System Credentialing and Qualifications Committee (CQC).
  • Review and make a final recommendation that an individual has completed the necessary training and experience and qualifies to be certified in a specific ICS position.
  • From the committees members provide members for the association’s Incident Certification System Appeals Subcommittee

Committee Composition
The association’s Incident Qualifications System Committee is composed of individuals who are active members of association and are interested in actively serving on the association’s IQS Committee.

  • The IMTA Incident Qualifications System (IQS) Committee includes:

  • Chair (appointed by the IMTA President) and approved by the Board
  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary
  • Board Liaison
  • Advisor Principal Project/Writer/Document Editor
  • Advisors as SME of the incident qualifications process
  • Representation from each of association regions and at-large groups
    • Who are qualified in IMT Command, General Staff and support positions
    • Who are qualified in EOC staff positions
    • Who represent the diverse backgrounds of incident response disciplines
    • Who manage IMT qualification programs

              The Committee meets on a regular basis via teleconferencing and communications methods include shared information drives and electronic mail.

              Committee Member Responsibilities
              Committee members will be responsible to:

              • Attend and actively participate in regular meetings
              • Participate in the review of the association’s Incident Qualifications System materials and revise, update or develop materials as needed to enhance the association’s Incident Qualifications System programs.
              • Respond to communications from IMTA Leadership about the associations Incident Qualifications System programs.
